The Investment Company Institute announced that it has begun to collect and report data monthly on exchange-traded funds, or ETFs. The ICI reports will cover all ETFs that are registered investment companies but will exclude Holding Company Depository Receipts, or HOLDRs, because they are not issued by registered investment companies.
In December 2000 there were 80 ETFs with a total of $65.6 billion in assets.
