CRD – Central Registration Depository

FINRA maintains and operates the a central licensing and registration system for the U.S. securities industry and its regulators known as the Central Registration Depository. It is also known as Web CRD. The system contains the registration records of more than 3,810 registered broker-dealers, and the qualification, employment and disclosure histories of more than 633,820 active registered individuals.

The CRD system is updated by brokers and firms using Form U-4 and Form U-5, and securities regulators by using Form U-6. The information contained in the CRD system is available to all state securities regulators, and is the basis for the information reported on FINRA’s BrokerCheck website.
